With the release of their new BMW Series 4 Coupe Concept, BMW has stepped into a new segment, a segment in which similar models are differentiated by a class number. Thus, BMW has divided the Series 3 in two parts: the Series 3 sedan and hatch will keep their old names, all while the coupe and convertible versions will get a new one, namely Series 4.
The BMW Series 4 Coupe Concept adds a new dimension to the design, dynamics and elegance of the BMW Series 3 Coupe.
The “4″ refers to larger coupes, namely the BMW Series 6 and Series 8, and reflects a higher degree of exclusivity, increased sportiness and a clearer differentiation form the BMW Series 3 range.
In the photo comparison below, the BMW Series 4 Coupe is placed right next to the Audi A5 and the Mercedes-Benz C Class Coupe.
In the Audi A5, engine options start with the 1.8-liter TFSI, which develops 125 kW (170 hp), a maximum torque of 320 Nm and goes from 0 to 60 mph in 8.7 seconds, to the Audi RS5, which is to compete with the next BMW M, a model based on the BMW Series 4 to be launched in 2014.
Mercedes’ C Class Coupes range from the C250 to the C63 AMG, which has a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter AMG V8 that produces 451 hp and 600 Nm of torque.
As for their design, all three manufacturers have come up with attractive models which will undoubtedly appeal to a wide range of customers. Some people will enjoy the sporty and dynamic BMW Series 4 (only a concept for now), others will enjoy the smooth lines and interior of the Audi A5 or the classic look of the Mercedes-Benz C Class Coupe.
et’s take a look at the pictures of the three models. Please vote for the car you think is the most appealing and tell us what you think about it in the comment section below.
